1. Can my bills be paid installmentally?
Yes, your bills can be paid in 3 installments, but all payments must be completed before commencement of Ovulation Induction.
2. Do you accept Laboratory results from another Hospital?
Yes, we accept laboratory results only from reputable hospitals, if they are less than 6months old. Results older than 6mths will have to be repeated at our facility.
3. Can I buy my drugs from another source?
No, we are very particular about the quality of drugs we give our patients. We cannot be sure of the quality of drugs purchased from other sources.
4. Must I have a cerclage?
It is not compulsory, but it has been noticed to increase live birth rate of ART babies. If so much money, time and emotions have been put into the program, it is only wise to run the final race by taking every necessary precaution.
5. After Assisted Reproduction Therapy, can I deliver normally?
Yes you can but it is safer to deliver through Cesarean Section.
6. Will my baby be Malformed after ARTs especially through ICSI?
No, there is yet to be significant relationship between malformed babies and ICSI, or any ARTs.
7. Will my Egg/Sperm Donor know me and Vice Versa?
No, it is the policy at DIFF Hospital not to disclose information about the donor to both parties involved.
8. Are Donors Fully Screened?
Yes, all Donors are fully screened physically and psychologically.
9. What are the chances that my Embryo will not be given to another patient?
All the embryos are kept in separate dishes and labeled accordingly. This dramatically reduces the chances of a mix-up.
10. What happens to the rest of my eggs/embryos?
If the eggs/embryos are of good quality, they can be frozen, but if they are not of good quality, they will be discarded.
11. How soon after surgery (Myomectomy, hysterocsopy, tubal surgeries) can I commence ART?
ART can be commenced as from 6weeks post surgery.
12. Must I have my baby in your facility?
No, You can have your baby in any good hospital with a suitably qualified gynaecologist, who is aware of your medical history.
13. Are there any food restrictions during ART?
You are advised to avoid several spices, and potash, also avoid any food substances containing prostaglandins E.g Okazi and Otazi. Alcohol and tobacco should also be avoided.
14. Can I have sex after IVF/ICSI?
No, you are advised to stop having sex at day 6 of Ovulation Induction, until after pregnancy test.
16. Is Driving safe after ART?
Yes, it is ok to drive after egg collection or embryo transfer, as long as you feel up to it, although the distance covered should not exceed 5km.
17. Do ART Drugs cause weight gain?
Yes, some of the drugs used may cause weight gain, but this is usually temporal, as you return to your normal weight when you stop taking the drug, unless pregnancy occurs.
18. Can I get a family member to donate eggs for me?
Yes.
19. Do I get to choose my surrogate or do you do that for me?
You can choose your surrogate, but for confidentiality reasons and proper documentation, we prefer to get one for you.
